Open Settings in Read & Explain, then Explore membership. Review the annual plan, local price, and any eligible trial shown by Apple, then confirm the subscription through Apple. Membership is purchased in the app, not on this website.

Does membership include Family Sharing?
No. Read & Explain does not include Family Sharing. You can use your own membership on your iPhone and iPad with the same Apple Account. Other Apple Accounts need their own membership for paid features. Each device has its own saved reading library.

How do I make my first reading?
On the home screen, tap the camera to take a photo or the photo icon to choose one. Pick Read it to extract the words, or Explain it for an explanation. Tap the main button to process it. Your photo is sent to the AI service only when you choose to process it.

The app cannot read my photo. What should I try?
Use a clear, well-lit photo with the text facing the camera. Crop away unrelated areas, reduce glare, and try one page at a time. Make sure you are online. If the image still fails, contact us with the message shown in the app; you do not need to send the photo.

My membership is active, but processing is unavailable.
Check your internet connection. In the app’s Settings, open your membership and use Restore Purchases. Make sure your Apple Account is the one used for the subscription. If it still fails, send us the error message or reference shown in the app, your device model, and app version. Never send passwords or payment details.

How do I restore a purchase?
Use Restore Purchases in the app’s membership settings. Apple checks the subscription associated with your Apple Account. This restores membership access; it does not restore a reading library from another device.

How do I cancel my membership or free trial?
On your iPhone or iPad, open Apple Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Choose Read & Explain and cancel. You can also open Manage subscription in the app. To avoid a trial renewal, Apple advises canceling at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

How much can I read or explain each day?
Membership includes 100 photo reads or explanations per day, shared across both modes and your devices. The allowance resets at midnight UTC. Reopening saved readings, built-in listening, and opening Immersive Reader do not use this photo allowance. If an AI request returns an error, we return its daily allowance when the service can confirm the refund.

Can I listen and read at the same time?
Yes. The app uses Apple’s built-in voices and highlights words as they are spoken. You can change the language and speed, pause, and continue when you’re ready. Available voices depend on your device and downloaded languages.

What works without the internet?
You can open readings already saved on your device. Built-in listening works with voices available on the device. Creating a reading, generating an explanation, verifying membership, and opening Microsoft Immersive Reader need an internet connection.

What happens if I cancel?
You keep access to the readings saved on your device and built-in listening. Access to membership features ends when your Apple subscription entitlement expires. Manage or cancel your subscription through Apple.

How do I change text size, spacing, or the reading theme?
Open a saved reading and use the text appearance control in the toolbar. You can adjust text size and line spacing, choose a book-style font, and switch the reading theme. The app also supports your device’s Dynamic Type text-size settings.

What is the difference between Read it and Explain it?
Read it extracts the words from your photo. Explain it gives you a separate AI-generated explanation in simpler language. An explanation is not a verbatim copy and may miss context. Compare anything important with your original photo.

How do I open Microsoft Immersive Reader?
Open a reading and choose Immersive Reader from the reading toolbar or its options. This optional view needs the internet and shares the selected reading with Microsoft. Close it to return to the app’s Reading Mode.

Can I move my readings between iPhone and iPad?
Each device has its own local reading library. Read & Explain does not currently sync that library between devices. You can share reading text using the app’s share option. Device backup and restore behavior is controlled by your Apple settings.

How do I delete a reading?
Choose Delete from the reading’s options in your library and confirm. This removes that reading and its saved source photo from the app’s local library. It does not delete the original photo in Apple Photos or copies you shared elsewhere.

How do I request a refund?
Apple handles App Store payments and refund requests. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account used for the purchase, and follow Apple’s refund process. Eligibility is decided by Apple.
