Membership includes 100 photo reads or explanations per day. The two modes use one combined allowance, shared across your devices.
Know what uses a request
Processing a photo with Read photo or Explain photo uses the allowance. Adding a new explanation to a saved photo also uses it. For example, reading a photo and then creating an explanation uses two requests.
Come back at the reset
The allowance resets at midnight UTC, which may be a different time from midnight where you live. Switching devices does not reset it.
Keep using your saved readings
Reopening a saved reading, listening with Apple's built-in voices, and opening Immersive Reader do not use this photo allowance. Immersive Reader still needs an active membership and the internet.
If processing fails
When an AI request returns an error, the service returns the daily allowance when it can confirm the refund. If a service is temporarily unavailable, wait and try again. Contact us with the error reference if the problem continues.
