Getting started

Find and manage saved readings

Reopen, search, rename, share, or delete readings in your library, and understand what is saved on each device.

For iPhone & iPad · App version 1.0 · Updated

New readings are saved automatically when processing finishes successfully. Your library lives on the device where you created it.

  1. Find a reading

Return to the home screen and look under Library. Tap a reading to reopen it. Once you have saved readings, use Search saved readings to find one. The built-in sample can also be saved from its Reading options menu.

  2. Rename or share it

Open the reading and tap the three-dot Reading options button. Choose Rename reading, enter a useful title, and save. Choose Share original text or Share explanation to send the selected text through Apple's share sheet.

  3. Delete a reading you no longer need

In Reading options, choose Delete reading and confirm. You can also press and hold a saved reading in the library to find Delete reading. This removes the reading and its saved source photo from the app, but not your original in Apple Photos.

Your iPhone and iPad have separate libraries

Read & Explain does not currently sync readings between devices. Restoring a membership does not restore another device's library. Share important text before deleting readings or removing the app; the app has no undo for deleted readings.

Saved means you can come back

Saved readings and built-in listening remain available if your membership ends. You can open saved readings offline; listening needs a voice available on the device.
